We’ll probably hit half a million enjoyed things this weekend. I’m proud of that (small) number.
When I launched the site, it grew fast. It was awesome. So many great things got posted and it was such a pleasure to use the site. Then, as it kept growing, the quality went down. Following more people did not mean that you’d be seeing more awesome stuff, you’d just be seeing more… stuff.
So I slowed it down. I realized quite quickly that this site was going to be a labor of love and not a money-maker. So it became very important that I continue to love the site. So I stopped promoting it. If you requested free stickers it took months instead of days. I generally started to phone it in. But a funny thing happened. The new users that joined seemed to get it and most of the old users stuck around. So now I have half a million enjoyed things when I could have 5 million. But almost 100% of those things are good things and not bad things.
Thanks for sticking around and showing me awesome stuff. I’ll continue to pay the bills. (Of course, you can still help me out with the bills).
